About Flat Head Syndrome

Watch the video introduction about flat head syndrome now:

Ever since the Back to Sleep campaign began, there’s been a new problem emerging – the incidence of flat head syndrome has risen over 600%.

A flat spot begins when a baby’s head is deformed by repeated, prolonged pressure on the same part of the skull.

Many parents notice their babies’ heads developing a flat spot. Doctors sometimes call this “plagiocephaly” or “brachiocephaly,” which are other names for flat head syndrome. This visible flattening is often accompanied by a shortening of the muscles on one side of the neck / body, which is called “torticollis” or “congenital muscular torticollis.”

If head flattening does not resolve naturally by two to three months of age, it can require expensive helmet treatment, which costs an average of $4,000. If a helmet is needed, a baby must wear it all day and all night for months.

When left untreated, the changes caused by head flattening – shifting and distortion of the face, ears, and head – can become permanent.

Karina, one of our patients, asked her doctor about her son’s apparent flat spot. She was told not to worry; it would probably get better on its own. It didn’t.

By the time she made it in to see our specialist staff, her baby already needed a helmet.

We have a 100% success rate in avoiding helmets for children who show signs of flat head syndrome, if they come to us in the first few months of life. Later on, we have a 100% success rate of helping babies avoid traumatic corrective surgery.

We’ve seen these results over and over. Dr. Flores has refined her specialized techniques and replicated these results with over 10,000 babies.

If it’s identified quickly and parents are taught what to do, they can help their child remold their head to be as round as it can be. If your child is struggling, it’s not your fault. If you want to learn what you can do today, you can request the free guide now:
